Giovanni Furlanetto studied at the “Pedrollo” Conservatory of Vicenza, where he graduated in singing under the guidance of Luisa Romana Righetti, while he was having his first professional experiences as a theatre and circus actor. He imposed himself on the international scene by winning in 1988 the “Opera Company of Philadelphia - Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition” and performing in many important Italian and foreign productions.

His wonderful career brought him to perform on the principal international theatres and festivals including Teatro alla Scala, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Salzburg Festival, Hamburgische Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, Opéra National de Paris, Théâtre des Champs- Elysées de Paris, Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, Festival d’Aix-en Provence, Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie de Bruxelles, New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro La Maestranza in Sevilla, Festival Mozart in La Coruña, Teatro São Carlos in Lisbon, Rossini Opera Festival di Pesaro, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Glyndebourne Opera Festival, Barbican Center in London, Santa Fe Opera Festival, San Francisco Opera Company, Baltimore Opera Company, Opéra de Montréal, Philadelphia Opera Company.

Ideal interpreter of Mozart’s, Rossini’s and Donizetti’s repertoire, he worked with important conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, Lorin Maazel, Sir Antonio Pappano, Daniele Gatti, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, and with such stage directors as Dario Fo, Hugo de Ana and Luca Ronconi.
